Walpole Woodworkers & Extreme Makover: Home Addition ABC TV
Fenway Park Comes Home To A Brave Youngster

When diehard Red Sox fan Will Johnson wants to play at Fenway Park, his mom simply opens the back door and the six-year-old drives his power scooter into the yard. There he has his own miniature ballpark complete with a replica of the famous Green Monster. Will, who has been diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and his Medfield, MA family, were recently visited by "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for an episode to appear on ABC TV.
Walpole Woodworkers partnered with the show's design team to create the outdoor living area for the renovated home. Our craftsmen had just two weeks preparation time in which to design the scale model replica of the famous outfield wall, and on the day of the show's taping, had a very limited time to erect the structure.
Walpole has been building custom fence for more than 70 years, so the unique project was completed without a hitch.

Not only are the Johnson family delighted with their backyard ballpark, but equally impressed were Red Sox players Curt Schilling, Doug Mirabelli, and Jason Variteck, who made guest appearances during the unveiling. Walpole is proud to have participated in this important and meaningful project. In addition to the Green Monster, we made the Johnson's outdoor area more livable and inviting with a teak dining set for the deck, rocking chairs along the front porch, Adirondack chairs in the back yard, and flowering window boxes. A mail box post and lantern post in the front of the house completed the look of their beautiful new home.

For this very deserving family, and especially for young Will, Walpole is delighted to have hit one over the fence.
